1. O you whose lightning flickers like sweat beads
And at times throbs like a beating heart

2. Whenever the lip of lightning smiles broadly
The clouds weep over it and its bolts pour down

3. Whenever the south winds wail in it
My worries in anguish are like sweet basil

4. When lightning loses its glow, the morning winds
Shatter it like embers scattered, its sparks

5. If thunder moans, the south winds provoke it
It does not stop gathering its bundles gracefully

6. The downpour where the rain leads it
And the drizzle floats, the clouds circle heavily

7. It descended from the hilltops, their highest points
Until the valleys match it in their depths

8. It sheets the earth completely so that no depression
Remains except it makes it an abyss and drowned

9. As if the horizon is a confused, dark shadow
Where the north with its palms clashes with it

10. As if the sky adorns the earth with pearls
And the meadows with gray morning glories

11. As if when its stars shone, the meadows' panels
Sparkled since its dawns have spread

12. The smell of flowers and bushes spreads in it
Its flag grew and its anemones split open

13. Beyond it is musk melted spreading in it
The scent of acceptance, saturating the earth

14. O highest aspirations, is there still for them
A term until I attain your pleasure and precede it

15. My patience has weakened and my solace is cut off
So how can Marwan's repentance match it

16. If in your eyes I have become like Marwan
Due to your long resentment from its causes

17. Or was it your anger then you nullified it
With another order for I cannot endure anger

18. Confirm for us your second command that we may follow it
For you are its destination in us and its constructor

19. God has granted you purified morals
That have flourished and guided you to what does not depart it

20. You pardon, become pleased, and it is best to suppress
This anger when its realities have appeared

21. What is your excuse in this while you are characterized by it
And the sinner of the sin does not repent to match it

22. Your anger has shaken my ribs so it shook me
And from it my head has grayed at its temples

23. You are like the night, if you come to me
While my leader, you are assured with kindness

24. Be like the Prophet with Ka'b when he pardoned him
The next morning when he came to him while leading him

25. He said, "His sanctity to me is like yours
Do not kill him for I will now protect him"

26. Follow his tradition as you are his heir
By my life you are his successor and the one who will fulfill it

27. So which land when you are not pleased with it will carry me
And which pages have misguided me by its compositions
