1. Oh Umm Amr, I have never intended any disloyalty
Except to you, nor has my heart inclined to another

2. Neither has distance, that separates us, tempted me
Nor the many slanderers, if they have tempted you

3. Nor have the slanderers sowed discord in our affection
Except what displeased the slanderers and pleased you

4. But a manifest enemy has slandered to separate us
And fabricated lies about you

5. How can my soul be diverted from you? It is
A desolate wilderness except with you, a sanctuary for you
