1. My slightest trouble is that I am infatuated with him
And the easiest thing are the tears flowing copiously

2. I watch forgiveness and sin from him, his sin is a sin
And his people ask about me while he is knowledgeable

3. Shall I pretend to be amorous while he is free of love
And stay awake out of passion while he is asleep

4. And my heart does him injustice for a moment and he is the judge
So who is equitable and a glance is opponent and judge

5. And the strangest thing in love is that between us
I am sad safe and he is sound safe

6. Does the killed grieve and the killer feel secure
And the wronged act submissive and the unjust act arrogant

7. So O my time, with grief, are you coming back
And O flogger of the sleepless, are you merciful

8. How many settled ones in the quarter seek a teacher
Except the milestones have picked on us

9. The branches incline to our complaints out of kindness
And the doves mourn us in their bushes

10. O my friend, did we exceed the limit of passion
Or is that the stab of love or am I delusional

11. An abode where the forbearing pours his drink
And where he loses his heart and he is decisive

12. Never did my eyes gleam at it with a glance
So there is no late evening glow of Mashrafiyya

13. Nor did unhealthy winds blow through it
Nor shook a smooth soft branch

14. Blame redoubles my passion and the blame is in them
And grief and flashes of lightning make me weep

15. So O my eyelids, what did the lightning tell about them
And O my hearing, what have the blames deposited in you

16. May Allah water the days of youth and palms of life
And my promise to him is a lasting rain promise

17. I stood and from my eyes are pouring eyes
And their person in the pit of tears is swimming

18. It was nothing but like the phantom of one bidden farewell
I indulged in him secretly as if I am dreaming

19. He called me and do not inquire what I found in him
And the matter of my affairs, most of what I conceal

20. If those riders to whom passed return
So how good their trotting and the farewells

21. And how many a companion I faced with gratitude
But he turned to fold his kindness and he curses me

22. Everyone meets me frowning while her heart
I stood before the lion and the lion smiling

23. Do people hate me because I surpassed them
In merit, truly Allah is the divider of merit

24. I am one who gives favour its due
Else it would betray the slightest determinations

25. When the ignorant of the people find a learned man
I counter the disease of ignorance with knowledge decisive
