1. I yearn for the shade of al-Aqeeq more than the heat
Yearning for those whose five mounted the roses

2. And Na'man al-Arak longed, though I was not
The first longer to yearn from rapture

3. Peace be upon Najd and those who were frenzied by passion
And its torment, my words "Peace be upon Najd"

4. Our loved ones, why does the asker blame the dune
That none but the youths and ostriches frequented

5. You protected your abode with fences and warded
The morning we met at al-Dhba with lions

6. And I used to live happily with purpose, but you rode
There the muzzle of taste from the rising of the wrist

7. The morning we bid farewell and the eyes of
Those who cried over us intentionally leaned toward us

8. So I did not see but a doubting palm of youth
On a liver or a crying tear on a cheek

9. I loved you with the love of life and youth
And what life is not marred by loss

10. And if the passage of time made you forget passion
My sorrows were not stirred but by the passage of time
