1. O king who rules the lofty palace
And in your name its pillars stand

2. You have withdrawn from me while the
Hands of misfortune seize me, do not abandon me

3. The tears have spilled from my cheeks
Blood that was not meant to be spilled before you

4. For who can attain their wishes from you
While I long but cannot reach

5. The efforts of a scoundrel have failed, who says
What benefit is there in what you possess?

6. And here is your father who obeyed adversity
And clung to God in the morning

7. No believer was deprived of his generosity
Nor any polytheist escaped his wrath

8. Your enemies spent the night in fear of
Destruction, weeping while your swords laughed

9. My praise in this time is not
Of what is fabricated or coveted

10. Rather, it is an honor to be gained
And the easiest essence to follow

11. Revelry lasts while God
Is your first concern lest it perish

12. I seek refuge for you from any path other than
Generosity, for it is the way for others

13. And one like you whose palm
Gives life, and whose sword vanquishes

14. You give generously so the dew whitens
And from your pool the battleground blackens

15. How often has generosity covered the shame of a man
Whose money and wealth wear him down

16. And whoever wears praise as a garment
Will have no tearing or rending

17. So return to the poor and heal the broken
And whoever's fate has worn him down

18. Supplication is but a shield
For those who are pious or ascetic

19. The words of another youth make no sense
While your advice in counsel is fruitful
