Superior in eloquence and poetry,

2. He whose absence has taken away my joy,
Seemed to me like the rising star of success,

3. Doing good in speech and song,
My horses were heated from the spearheads,

4. And riding them was enough for me, as they excel
Even the racing camels,

5. May the Master live long, the light of faith,
Judge of judges, nurtured by benevolence,

6. Majid adorned the high with his flags,
Beautifying bodies with spirits,

7. And his resolve protected the kingdoms,
Until we cared little for ornate swords,

8. The owner of the house resembles it, splendid,
Perfect in all aspects,

9. And son of those whose efforts guided them
When time uncovered its secrets,

10. They were gentle when times were harsh,
And generous with wishes in barren nights,

11. I have attained through him the highest glory,
Soaring on wings of success,

12. And I am proud to praise him in the wild,
Composing poetry in sailors' eyes,

13. I will reveal about his excellencies
Concise and eloquent verses,

14. Pure wine that dances the hearing, as
It dances clear in goblets,

15. It is the sister of liquor, though
It is pure as the sister of still water,

16. With his kindness I was guided to speak
And gifted to restrain all anger,

17. It is weakness that I stray when
The full moon has lit my morning,
