With its arrows, the swords of streams poured

5. The sculptor of life dressed the necks of steeds
And the chests of the ponies and stallions

6. The boughs did not dance nor did the brook
Clap with joy except for the nightingales’ singing

7. The curved one never had a frowning face
Nor did the roe deer have a stingy nature

8. The shyness of the wine is intoxication from its glance
And the moth of the acacia is beautiful in its attributes

9. We stopped at the remnants of the encampments, grieving
At the abodes that were struck with arrows

10. Oh how much sorrow made the heart of the reminiscent ache

That disobeyed the prohibition and separation

Complains to the neighbors of the heaviness of estrangement

What an ecstasy in the silence of anklets!

17. Indeed, Fakhr al-Din went above a glory
That the ambitious hand cannot reach

18. Smooth pebbles of wisdom, a crying tattoo
And who can cry like the gentle tattooed one?

19. Easygoing to the supplicant even if he rode the spear
And the riding of the drinker is difficult

20. Voices lower for him in every gathering
And the pride of enemies rises with pillars

23. So take from him, and bear witness of gentle, procession

25. Misguidance for the days of meeting, and may
The horsemen of dogs and foxes be far!

26. He is the one whose nobility is like Ka‘b’s, his perfectness is Hatim’s
When he is generous and hopes for reward

27. The sword in his protection, so ask about its killing thrust
It is the sea, so ask about its temptation on the coasts

28. Indeed, its hooves and pursuit
Have conspired against the enemies in gloom and tremors

29. So they are in prisons without guards, and a keep
With no fortifications in their cities

30. When their livers thirst, they drink blood
And when hungry, they take refuge in your dried plants

31. The noble lineages bloodied their necks
With stabbing instead of their shrouds and coffins

32. It is the sword—ask about its decisive striking in battles
It is the sea—ask about its tempting on the coasts

33. Due to its hoofbeats and pursuit, the groups of enemies
Became like grand prey in the darkness and quakes

34. So they are in prisons with no guards, and a citadel
With no towers among their cities

35. May God give you a protector and vanquisher
And fending off and preventing when destruction stirs

36. It is nothing but the sun in every country
Its glory sufficed it, and the proofs became manifest

37. It has resolve in fighting, so it has night in turmoil
When strongholds shake with afflictions

38. Their child in the cradle is like the son of Mary
Speaking of his forefathers with pride

39. His palm nearly raises the sword as a baby
While the palms of midwives have not risen from him

40. When the quivers of arrows shook, they rose up
The stars of loftiness in the darkness of bows

41. When the arrowheads snatched lives, the secret of arrows rushed
Striking with the streams

42. You were otherwise in my intention, and leaving him
Is like one distracted from his obligation by supererogatory deeds

43. Unless the weary from his vanishing morning
And the emigrant of Suhban to the union of remaining

44. An evening in which the desire has no face, disappointed
With separation, and no progeny with regiments

45. Does the course of rhymes confuse me from its course?
I was not confused about the course of rhymes

46. So a supportive Hatiimite group abandoned me
Which benefits from my unjust lifetime

47. And I have not attained by the generous King Yusuf
The chant of an ardent one or the wish of a hopeful one

48. To you, complaining anthems cast me
Like hidden knowledge in the darkness and ignorance

49. Recording the days of passed emissaries
And the times of years that elapsed

50. So inform—our hopes in his deeds are not
With reason, nor are our steeds with exhaustion

51. I swore by them, passions dispersed in the land
And I did not carry the agony and trials

52. The consonance of the family beats in every procession
Laments far in prolonged distances

53. My passion weakened to return its wings
To the chests of the dwelling or the backs of the milestones

54. I have no means of living, no morning remains
No annihilation, nor passion that bears me

55. I have defined the chaste ones by your name, yearning
And narrated your blessings, the treasures of my thoughts

56. The girls of thought became secure when
They stayed up late by your call, the best traits

57. Their words dust in the face of morning
And drive into the chests of early centuries

58. They have reached what dawn and darkness reached
But their verses did not find any debater

59. When it mixed with intellect, so knowledge of Babel
And if it entered a hearing, it did not narrate Babel

60. I have attributed it to the benefactors of dew
But it did not accept except for brave kings

61. So do not forget it—an educational estrangement
Summoned by the messenger of sublime traits

62. I went with it before and after the descent
And I did not feel narrowed before them in dwellings

63. For virtue is only in you, with triumphant
And words are only about your heights, with lofty

64. If the countries and its people were empty of you
It would not give good news of masterful heroes
