1. I walked under a full moon in a cloud of drizzle,
So it appeared unlike the moon in elegance and heart.

2. It was amazed at my sickness and the outpouring of my tears,
Did it think I was lightning amidst the ripe pearl?

3. My heart was forbidden to her glances,
And the edges of her tan mark were for prevention and refusal.

4. I granted her songs my tears as wealth,
With it I was needless of the sender of pouring rain.

5. So I flew on my breaths the dust of her trail,
As if my heart had gotten lost in the soil.

6. My red tears upon it were changing,
And it had been in ambush flames of embers.

7. And strangely the barren valley and its features dried,
And whose cheek from the slopes of clouds was fertile?

8. So from a tear of a languishing one above the cheek of a rose
It adorns one in the shade of soft green.

9. And my humanity thirsts, and my tears and its loves,
Like the cheek of a pool in gentle clouds.

10. And it was said that leaves were women in mourning,
So how did sprigs dance in it from reeds?

11. May Allah water the thirst that settled like safety in the wasteland,
And uproot the uprooting of sleep from the desolation.

12. Its saliva protected us with glances of its edge,
So it protected the sweet fresh water with the sharp raging sword.

13. And it brought out the sun of the cup in the east of its palm,
While the sun of morning is a secret in the wing of the west.

14. And when we drank it, it took heed of the chapter of nightfall,
So it ignited the fire of fervor in the ember of the heart.

15. And the line of its sweetness explained the secret of passion,
Undoubtedly, the line understands the perceptive.

16. It has plundered my patience completely, its eyelids,
And enough that the broken becomes strong against plunder.

17. A beloved to his lovers, and he is a killer,
So his speech allures, and his appearance captivates.

18. And I have not seen anyone, like me, deprived of his desire,
And I have no fear of a slanderer upon love.

19. I blame my companion for him even if she
Turned away from the beloved, I say to her: enough.

20. And there is no patience like mine for him, I do not ask the morning breeze
For wings, and I harness lightning from the peaks.

21. I remain in his remembrance, stirring my solitude,
Like a barren desert inclining to its pleasant utterance.

22. As if in my shoulder was a Babylonian intoxication
That makes it stagger, or the tremor of the obsessed.

23. The prime of youth and riches, and there is nothing of them
Except yearning for him along with nearness.

24. And there is nothing between us every day and night,
Except two seas that prevent and no path.

25. He is my savior from the grip of ignorance after
I was confused, and I don’t know prosody from meter.

26. And after I failed and lost excellence and abundance,
And I don’t differentiate between lowering and raising.

27. Nights in which I did not spend the best of speech,
And I did not taste the pleasure of its literature and earning.

28. And I did not face from it every nonsense that deformed
The palms of the lote trees or blinded the eyes of the flock.

29. Its rhymes perplex eyes witnessing it
With obelisks and raised ears.

30. And were it not for shyness that affects its words
In his call, ink would flood from wonder.

31. It is chaste so what is in its face is the shyness of mole
And it is stern so what is in its shoulder is the hardness of anger.

32. And it clarified when prosody confounded, and time is an arena,
So it came preceding on heels.

33. And it became a companion for the resident, its celebration the
Feast, and provision for the strugglers of companions.

34. For him, may Allah fulfill what intention he aspired to glory,
And he supported in the year of drought and barrenness.

35. And he brought knowledge closer to the healthy, the attainer,
And kept himself away from blamers and insults.

36. In the east there is misguidance since he grew and dignity
Like the beauty lost in the wraps of thin silky cloth.

37. A group was astonished by him, did one like him rise?
No wonder, he is the rising of comets.

38. A brother of a pen whose feathers it shed,
So it became in need of a raging sword.

39. The sender of blessings roamed in the night of his soul,
So he was lavish in saddening the simpleton and the desolate.

40. A supporter of the desires of these tender ones is more delicious
To a glance and sweeter in union than reproach.

41. He is white kindness in every plight,
From fate and days darkened by wolves.

42. A speech of superiority that makes the sun jealous
When it illuminates the wing of approaching clouds.

43. And existence that makes you see the day green and thriving,
While years have passed in gray hair.

44. Tomorrow, drought will cease tears of life,
And the hand of misery will dress in clouds.

45. And it will slap the face of earth in every plain,
More barren than the palms, naked of fertility.

46. Of the people some settled in fantasies and profit,
In place of the valleys in the plateaus of the slopes.

47. When the healthy shine in the light of their fire,
They proceed from the declining of night in an open expanse.

48. And if it is said this one is of their tribe,
Good news of his name makes ripe faces shine.

49. And if the milk of the udder dries and the land sours,
And the homes are confined to milking with palms.

50. They established the aqueduct of Islam with
Struggle, and stopped the tyranny of non-Arabs and Arabs.

51. With what they whitened with white from the dawn of guidance,
And what they darkened with black from faces of war.

52. They are the givers of green meadows tied
To red steeds and armored knights.

53. They are the ones who prose and verse, so in havoc
And in peace, knights of regiments and books.

54. So one says a chapter and one spends dew,
And one fights a sword and one pardons with consolation.

55. They reside in the guts of all kingdoms,
As the bosom embraced affections.

56. So they gave safety from fear, and brought purpose closer,
And diverted from nothingness, and calmed from discord.

57. He is the night conversation for the afflicted in every land,
And amusement of the sorrowful and basil of drinking.

58. When the walkers frown, his donations come
Laughters of Qais’s generosity or Ka’b.

59. He surpassed his brother the sea, abundant his chest,
So there emerged on its coasts the wrecking of plunder.

60. With the sweetest knowledge Zayd increased goodness, the master of Kinda,
Like his forefathers before in bygone eras.

61. They are the moons of highness and its stars,
So one swoops and another follows.

62. I wondered at the haste of companions, how they ignited
With my tears, fires of youth and anguish.

63. And how they permitted to my ribs the sorrow
Sanctuary, and softened my resolves’ conquest.

64. And I have tasted the sweet fervor in you and its bitterness,
And I have suckled in the plain of cheer and difficulty.

65. So what is the gain of the companion, and the garden of passion,
And the moaning of the complainer, and the good morning of thegrave?

66. My beautiful singularity was certainly betrayed into spinsters,
And your blessings departed, vacant of purpose.

67. And I am of great need of you and horizon,
Even if I was envied of wealth, fertile of commoners.
