The time of safety for the fearful

And hours that surpassed eras in splendor

7. The nights departed while still white
Though before them the days were gloomy

8. I swore by what you bestowed with your hands
An oath like your promise I will not break

9. When you fought the vicissitudes of fate
I saw clear victory in your face

10. You honored the generous owner of power
And it pained the people to be disgraced

11. You did not lack vastness and worldliness
But you lacked only generosity and faith

12. When they compared you, they compared
Like comparing jasmine to cottontail

13. You dwelled in a chamber of clay and mud
While others seek a chamber of clay and mud

So we no longer seek clay and mud

Knowledge melts like leaves in the sun

So your hopes were not disappointed

23. Did you send these lines in verse
Or my handwriting and noble horses?

24. It unsheathed a polished sword with its virtue
And strung a precious necklace with its prose

25. When they looked upon its beauty, it filled
The faces of knights with eyes

26. With its phrases it made bodies sway
And with its words, gazelles glance

27. It burdened me with a weighty debt
And law rules I must repay debts

28. The rhymes became ashamed
When I was gifted a constitution, nay guidance!

29. You will know my praise when it flows
As she-camels flow with cheek braces

30. I never heard of loyalty like yours
And I think none will ever be like us
