1. Her spirit was my guide when the banner appeared,
And the star with a ladder, the ladder-marked one, shone.

2. Let her be - though to say "Let her be" is no favor -
How often has she awakened longing for those hills!

3. How often has the night assaulted her with a energetic man,
Like the blade of a sword when it intends resolve!

4. He penetrated the darkness of the pitch black night, trusting
That the dawn was before him, not the darkness of blindness.

5. It was as if, until it fell down with her,
He was a wilting rose brought by the brisk steed, or verse.

6. Is this or that Zaynab's house?
Had I not been distraught, I would not have asked, "Or?"

7. O rulers of the living! Does the religion of passion
Allow an unjust ruler when he decrees?

8. In the pledge of love is the heart of a lover -
If love has pledges - orphaned.

9. Woe to my tears! After them, what?
They have taken on their colors. So tears are blood.

10. A people, when the market of unrest set up
And the tusk of calamities sharpened and raged,

11. They withstood the lightning of humiliation. Verily it
Is accustomed to gather up vile souls.

12. The blossoms of the cheeks became bitter, the red of shame
Green of envy, the white of tears red of blessings.

13. From each gazelle beneath it a predatory lion
Who has no fortune but the bow of misfortune fully drawn.

14. Passionate, not deterred by events,
That would uncover him except the deafening crash.

15. Without him, no banner of opinion would be raised
Nay, nor would a flag of knowledge flutter.

16. His deeds are of decisive deception, and his name
Is like the sword - it does not face refusal head-on.

17. His determination is hardened in disasters when
The ignoble becomes Arabized. And ignorant.

18. Possessor of a whim which intoxication shuns
And which engulfs him utterly like pain.

19. If the removal of a speck in his sleep were forbidden him,
He would bar sleep from his eyes and not sleep.

20. He quaffs the pearls of wisdom about fate
And how far is the pearl of wisdom from fate!

21. Possessor of a fresh sweet stream, speaker of elegant prose
Angry when he judges, fulfilling the judgment.

22. O how many tribulations from him are a tribulation for the enemy,
And how many favors that come to him are favors!

23. His generosity universally enriched the people
More than their fathers, uncles, and paternal uncles.

24. O you who mutinied, your uprising mutinied against
The noble souls. And the pillars.

25. Do not count aberration as guidance, and
Disregard his hearing - the misguided is not like the guide.

26. He purified it from disgrace. Verily
The high-minded disdain what is low.

27. Defending the kingdom, he stood in its place???
He seeks protection with management when

28. Weakness takes refuge with him - sufficing, protecting.
How many dawns of joy his light brought out

29. While we were in darkness that darkened and deepened!
Hearing the ringing of those seeking justice, hastening

30. To them, deaf to the killer of virtue.
The unique one provides for us eternally -

31. From him come the unique ones, and the twins.
His mother is not barren, so how can

32. The endeavor of one who aims fail?
Alive, he gives life, ransoming it even,

33. And for evildoers, vengeance when he is vengeful.
In him is life for the truth and wealth

34. While in him for falseness is misery and non-existence.
Your reputation permitted the reputation of property, so

35. The pilferer of his property was not blamed.
Diffusing its scent is the relative with the relative,

36. The breeze of praise from that soft blow.
Near to the spring of dew, he enriches people

37. With his roses, beyond need or blame.
The dew of the hand of Ibn Shahriyar revives

38. Shyness from it - it did not withdraw in disdain.
He prospered the days of days and doubled

39. The livelihood of orphans, capacious after destitution.
He sought glory, attaining in his youth

40. What eluded the bent old man complaining of old age.
When the occurrence of events was feared, he

41. Yearned for them, while the bald had no hair.
Because he was harmonious, he shunned

42. The blaze that flared up from it.
The people of guidance came together devoted to him,

43. While his people - how they refused and did not come together!
You blamed the days, "Who but the son of whom and whom

44. Have you sheltered? How many events you sheltered!"
Eyes lower before him not from blindness,

45. And tongues are silent from awe, not muteness.
Brief streams, his palm has stemmed the dew,

46. As long as care for the religion is his concern.
O sanctuary of the kingdom whose attainment

47. Enriched all the people of the world - no stream barred.
O illuminator of the world with justice and law!

48. You unveiled us from darkness completely and injustice.
Verily rhymes that roam are a harem

49. Protected, possessing rights and sanctity.
The horizons are folded not from abasement -

50. The blowing of the musk-scented wind blew, so we smelled.
They are doves! In fact, a society of doves

51. Whose blackness my outstanding merit made.
So be delighted with them, enriched through

52. The overflowing favor of a wise spreading in you, then flowing.
Radiant like the sun, beautiful, and

53. Rising like the dawn, while poetry is darkness.
I come without dependence, aid, conformity,

54. Or bending, resolved and determined.
Innovative, having no antiquity,

55. But in the utmost virtue having precedence.
She created puzzling versification spontaneously even if

56. She were to recite it, shyness would silence her and she would veil herself.
So say to one who attempts to emulate her,

57. "It suffices you that pus resembles cream!"
This, O Abu Hamid, is the praise that

58. Won allegiance when its star rose.
We are not like those whose love, if you are absent, is absent,

59. And who frown on fine speech and conceal it.
Because you, O Muhammad, are praiseworthy,

60. And we are like fathers in service.
You left it to us, as we left praise of you, when

61. You grasped glory, to the servants and the servile.
All the children of hopes are for property and for

62. Outcome - sons of servants and servants.
Verily Damascus in its hope is truthful

63. Since its horizons shone after the darkness.
You brought, so if it said "It filled up," it is the sea,

64. And the rise of the full moon, if it said "It is complete."
You were the guardian, and your name is the praised one -

65. Necks of aspiration were marked before and marked.
The knot of the lands - if you assumed its stringing -

66. Would be completed by it, and compose a knot of joy.
O quintessence of horizons! After you absence

67. Remained, while for the enemies remained non-existence.
