1. The cloak of Ali threw the nation into turmoil on Sunday
So you held Friday prayers on Thursday

2. And joyful celebrations spilled blood into darkness
Having drunk to excess from their goblets

3. When an apostate army laughed
And the faces of prey were sullen and gloomy in the hunting grounds

4. The earth's chests were too narrow for their fallen bodies
And its horizons were choked by their souls

5. The naked air dons black robes
As though lamented by its moons and suns

6. A youth enjoying the Prophet's blessings during his time of ease
If he cannot help in his time of distress, an hour of misfortune
