1. None has departed from an abode with a banner,
Between the twists of Al-Manjanoun, so straight and upright,

2. The well of Qaww has been deprived of the water of knowledge.
Those passing by used to be guided by it through the wilderness.

3. The winds have left no landmarks standing
Except remnants of pillars and tent pegs.

4. I stood at the abode, unable to discern it,
Except through memories that conjure up dreams.

5. It has perished and lost all its dear inhabitants,
Just as the sanctuaries of persecuted nations perished.

6. After it, the living replaced delight with gloom -
Alas! The flooding of the Euphrates cannot make up for gloom.

7. House after house - neighbors have told tales,
Yet God decides the superiority of food.

8. May God and the Caliph grant you Ghouta as abode -
In it live the clan of Hakam.

9. They prevent harm to a neighbor; thus no
Complaining neighbor calls out among them.

10. They are heirs of the Caliphate’s pulpit yet remain
Trustworthy, loyal to their covenants.

11. They break the resistance of those they want;
never has resistance weakened their firm resolve.

12. When the starry night adorns itself with its diadem,
The stars illuminate the darkness.

13. They dispel any gloom that befalls the people -
One of the great calamities -

14. They do not boast of their virtues, yet virtues they have
Over us, with the best of blessings.

15. The chaste women love them, when
The virgins reveal places of piercing beauty.

16. Even the dog disowns its people, and
Bitter war flares up, fueled with embers.

17. Among them is the Imam of Guidance - favors he has
That I treasure, and hands that hurl blood.

18. A Caliph to be followed in the ways
Of inheriting the glory of wealth and generosity.

19. Pride overwhelms their people when
Their days are recalled, in song and history.

20. You are of the Bani Umayyah, in a house
Whose dweller sanctified the Sacred House.

21. When they saw the transgression of their people against them
As they severed ties of kinship,

22. Their swords became fortresses for them.
And every protector of sanctuaries took hold of them.

23. Every strong young man resembling
A speckled stallion amidst charging steeds.

24. Vanquisher of the armored horses when the
Horsemen shrink from the arenas of courage.

25. The house of Ma’add surrounds you, up
To the peak of glorious honor most sublime.

26. Bestowing white steeds like the mountain gazelles, upon
Which the winds blow and the does wander in the thickets.

27. And the selected hundred spurred by the
Herdsman amidst them is the muscular stallion.

28. The wilderness has become his dependents,
In vast plains of no confinement or limitation.

29. He nurtures his abundant goodness, never
Decreasing after reaching the peak of glory.

30. My soul is ransomed for him, though no
Misfortunes of loss and disease have befallen me.

31. After him, who can bring us pride?
Who can secure our needs in times of adversity?

32. In the hardship of life and times, and what
Our age brings of ruin and decay.

33. You are, among their kings, one steadfast
In building glory on solid foundations.
