1. O mother of boys, you have robbed me of my dreams
And killed me, so bear my sin
١. أُمَّ البَنينَ سَلَبتِني حِلمي
وَقَتَلتِني فَتَحَمَّلي إِثمي
2. And left me calling the doctor when
Your doctor has no knowledge of the disease
٢. وَتَرَكتِني أَدعو الطَبيبَ وَما
لِطَبيبِكُم بِالداءِ مِن عِلمِ
3. For God's sake, O mother of boys, don't you
Fear the consequences of sin?
٣. بِاللَهِ يا أُمَّ البَنينَ أَلَم
تَخشَي عَلَيكِ عَواقِبَ الإِثمِ
4. God bless you for your cousin when
You have burdened him with sickness upon sickness
٤. لِلَّهِ دَرُّكِ في اِبنِ عَمِّكِ إِذ
زَوَّدتِهِ سُقماً عَلى سُقمِ
5. And left him walking when he has
No mind to live sensibly with caution
٥. وَتَرَكتِهِ يَمشي وَلَيسَ لَهُ
عَقلٌ يَعيشُ بِهِ مَعَ الحَزمِ
6. She is a heavenly Jinni, above and below
With a waist wrapped in flesh
٦. جِنِّيَّةُ الأَعلى وَأَسفَلُها
وَحِلٌ مُؤَزَّرُهُ مِنَ اللَحمِ
7. And on her face the water of youth, but she
Would not accept a damned or ignorant man
٧. وَبِوَجهِها ماءُ الشَبابِ وَلَم
تَقبَل بِمَلعونٍ وَلا جَهمِ
8. She did not know the scent of beauty, nor
Did she shine with the first light of infatuation
٨. لَم تَدرِ ما نَدهُ الجِمالِ وَلَم
تَربُق بِرِبقٍ أَوَّلَ البَهمِ
