1. I have suffered enough sleepless nights from yearning
And here are the fires of passion and the tents

2. I stand at Al-Shaghour, wandering, while the dwellings
Of my loved ones are before me by the mosque of Al-Qadam

3. The women of Muniqaraj Labwa are closer to me
Than their homes though they are different tribes

4. And how close we are, though the house is far
When we try to visit, it is hard to know where to go

5. With the white and brown flash of swords, and from spears
Whose blades are bloodied by heroes

6. And horses like Sa'alik, driven
By the firmness of the kings of Turks, Arabs and Persians

7. When they attack, and their whetted swords
You would see the roses of battle roar in the throng

8. Can the thirsty man be quenched by seeing a spring
Forbidden him by the flash of swords and lances?

9. More difficult than this and that is attaining
What one strives for in the pulling of the reins

10. O brother, in my heart for you is a love
That permeates my body in all its pain

11. My drink is my tears, and their mixture
Is blood. Congratulations to the daughter of generosity and nobility

12. There, Sa'din was erect and Sa'd was singing
His song would drive away care with its melody

13. And still I fear for you and am apprehensive
While you live happy, in bliss and comfort

14. As long as the lover remembers his beloved
He confides no secret to the pen

15. How many nights has he tossed sleepless
Suffering for the one whose heart is desolate
