أشكو إلى أقوش عكس اسمه

1. I complain to one whose name is the opposite of his nature
He left of my body only its likeness

١. أَشكو إِلى أَقوشَ عَكسَ اِسمِهِ
لَم يُبقِ مِن جِسمي سِوى رَسمِهِ

2. While his glance is deemed infirm, the infirmity of my body is from his infirmity
He fixed the arrow of the glance in my slaughter

٢. وَطَرفُهُ مُستَحسَنٌ سُقمُهُ
فَسُقمُ جِسمي فيهِ مِن سُقمِهِ

3. And my liver is wounded by him and by his arrow
The cheek of dawn is abashed by his face

٣. أَثبَتَ سَهمَ اللَّحظِ في مَقتَلي
وا كَبِدي مِنهُ وَمِن سَهمِهِ

4. In its good fortune, and the full moon by its perfection
The rose is rendered fragrant by the rose of his cheeks

٤. مِن وَجهِهِ تَخجَلُ شَمسُ الضُحى
في سَعدِها وَالبَدرُ في تِمِّهِ

5. Yearning unto the savor of their kiss
And if the boughs of wishes were as his stature

٥. وَالوَردُ مِن وَردٍ بِخَدَّيهِ مُس
تَحي فَوا شَوقا إِلى لَثمِهِ

6. Alas for joining with him!
And moist pearls when they smile

٦. وَمِن مُنى الأَغصانِ لَو أَنَّها
كَقَدِّهِ آهاً عَلى ضَمِّهِ

7. Annul any mouth coveted for stringing them
I complain of the arms of the glance in their war

٧. وَاللُّؤلُؤُ الرَّطبُ مَتى يَبتَسِم
يُلغَ فَما يُرغَبُ في نَظمِهِ

8. The complainant did not lack during his peace
On the day of battle he destroys his peers

٨. شاكي سِلاح الطَرفِ في حَربِهِ
لَم يَعدَمِ الشاكي وَفي سِلمِهِ

9. And his palm has not been seen to lack deftness
His waist oppresses him, his buttock

٩. يَفتِكُ بِالأَقرانِ يَومَ الوَغى
وَكَفُّهُ لَم تَبدُ مِن كُمِّهِ

10. Swaying, the boastful in his darkness
Dallying of glances, languorous from

١٠. فَخَصرُه يظلِمُهُ رِدفُهُ ال
مهتَزُّ وَالمُعتَزُّ في ظُلمِهِ

11. A copiousness exhaling from its darkness
As if, in the disposition of beauty without

١١. مُعَربِدُ الأَلحاظِ نَشوانُ مِن
مُدامَةٍ تَنفَحُ مِن ظَلمِهِ

12. Rival, he won in the allotment of his destiny
The critic makes excuses to him unto the

١٢. كَأَنَّهُ في مَيسِرِ الحُسنِ بِال
قِدحِ المُعَلّى فازَ في قِسمِهِ

13. Lover when he meets him in his resoluteness
His speech is the permitted sorcery

١٣. يَعتَذِرُ العاذِلُ فيهِ إِلى ال
عاشِقِ إِذ يَلقاهُ مِن حَزمِهِ

14. That attacks the heart with his talk
Who sees him one day riding his steed

١٤. كَلامُهُ السِحرُ الحَلالُ الَّذي
يَهجُمُبِالقَلبِ عَلى كَلمِهِ

15. In its saddle-cloth - woe to its mother!
Saying, 'become blind' his glance says in the fray

١٥. مَن يَرَهُ في سَرجِهِ راكِضاً
حِصانَهُ يَوماً فَوَيلُ اُمِّهِ

16. And makes the lions as his sheep
So, if a king saw him, he would become

١٦. يَقولُ نُعمى لَحظُهُ في الوَغى
فَيَجعَلُ الآسادَ مِن غُنمِهِ

17. A vassal to him perforce against his will

١٧. فَلَو رَآهُ مَلِكٌ صارَ مَم
لوكاً لَهُ قَسراً عَلى رَغمِهِ
