1. For the light of faith, I declare
Every secret and openly confer

2. You favor some over us though we
Are more deserving of such preference

3. You raise mere boys above us as if
They are wise elders leading in eminence

4. You break the proud Arabic souls
Whose patience won't stand oppression

5. With cows from Al-Dawla you replace our clan
Sending them wherever you desire and disburse

6. Had I inclined to other than you, my place
Would not be thus when I attend and converse

7. Nor would he meet me with a frown
Secretly returning my greetings when I rehearse

8. But my affection for you, my leader, is excessive
I'm no man to change his love or diverge

9. I have spoken and the utterance is undoubtedly foul
So pardon me, for the criticized can excuse

10. If this continues, I will rebel
And how many like it I left as they whir

11. Calm yourself, all this arrogance
Will leave you and Allah is Greater
