1. Who hopes for good from the son of 'Unayn,
Will get from him naught but faint, hidden sorrow.
١. مَن يُرَجّي خَيراً مِن اِبنِ عُنَينِ
لَم يَنَل مِنهُ غَيرَ خُفَّي حُنَينِ
2. He lives in heedlessness, and his days pass by,
While he twists the thread of his seclusion in his hands.
٢. هُوَ في غَفلَةٍ وَأَيّامه تَف
تُلُ في غَزل عَزلِهِ بِاليَدَينِ
3. The sultan has blocked Umm Hubayn,
What good is there in hunting Umm Hubayn?
٣. صادَ مِنهُ السُلطانُ أُمَّ حُبَينٍ
أَيُّ خَيرٍ في صَيدِ أمِّ حُبَينِ
