1. The rose arrived a traveler from cheeks
It came to kiss after the aloofness
١. وَرَدَ الوَردُ سافِراً عَن خُدودِ
أَقبَلَت لِلتَقبيلِ بَعدَ الصُدودِ
2. Saying, and the saying is understood from it
With the tongue of glorification and praise
٢. قائِلاً وَالمَقالُ يُفهَمُ عَنهُ
بِلِسانِ التَسبيحِ وَالتَمجيدِ
3. Hasten to enjoy the pleasure of time, for nothing
Of life returns once passed
٣. بادروا لَذَّةَ الزَّمانِ فَما فا
تَ مِنَ العَيشِ لَيسَ بِالمَردودِ
4. Hurry and pluck ripe vine grapes
And the old vintage, daughter of the clustered vine
٤. بادِروا فَاِقَتَضُوا بَناتِ كُرُومٍ
وَالعَجوزَ البِكرَ اِبنَةَ العُنقُودِ
5. The spring season is blessed in its prime
Its fine blowing fragrance spreads from the cold
٥. إِنَّ فَصلَ الرَبيعِ بورِكَ فَصلاً
طيبٌ نَشرُهُ قَشيبُ البُرودِ
6. Wherever you turn you see naught but beautiful
Gazelles graced with charm and grace
٦. حَيثُما دُرتَ لا تَرى غَيرَ ديبا
جٍ أَنيقٍ بِهِ وَدُرٍّ نَضيدِ
7. All of time wishes it were spring
For its excellence is well-known
٧. يَتَمنّى كُلُّ الزَمانِ بِأَن كا
نَ رَبيعاً لِفَضلِهِ المَشهودِ
8. And so every lord wishes
He were like my beloved sovereign
٨. وَكَذا كُلُّ سَيِّدٍ يَتَمَنّى
أَنَّهُ مِثلُ سَيِّدي مَودُودِ
9. A king whose hands remained ever white
Brandishing bright swords in the darkness
٩. مَلِكٌ لَم تَزَل أَياديهِ بيضاً
فاتكاتٍ بِالنائِباتِ السودِ
10. He felled the nights with his generosity
And surpassed all other petty kings in munificence
١٠. صادَ بِالمَكرُماتِ غُرَّ اللَيالي
وَشَأى سائِرَ المُلوكِ الصيدِ
11. Indeed, his days are holidays for us
For with him each day is a thousand holidays
١١. إِنَّ أَيّامَهُ لأَعيادنا بَل
كُلَّ يَومٍ لَنا بِهِ أَلفُ عيدِ
12. He is the full moon of religion whom
The trinitarians submitted to monotheism
١٢. هُوَ بَدرُ الدينِ الَّذي بِسطاهُ
ذَلَّ أَهلُ التَثليثِ لِلتَوحيدِ
13. May he remain forever mighty, subduing the envious
Ever rising to the most sublime aspirations
١٣. دامَ في العِزِّ مُرغِماً لِلحَسودِ
في صُعودٍ إِلى مَراقي السُعودِ
