1. The gardens of gentle gazelles,
My paradise of inclusion,

2. Upon the world of mankind,
Generation after generation.

3. I obsess over he who would overpower me,
Over beauty,

4. I cajole him, try to please him,
But desire refuses compliance.

5. They have certainly blamed me for it,
And said, and said,

6. While it has distracted me
From saying and hearing.

7. The night of aloofness and estrangement,
And the day of departure,

8. To how much longer will I appease the blamers,
In pairs and individually?

9. By God, the days to come,
I will not give any lead.

10. My longing, I have become, among the people,
A repeated topic of condemnation,

11. And my sorrows have settled
In every path.

12. I am unaccustomed to comfort,
Nor is it fitting for me.

13. It is beauty, I do not choose
A desired one over it,

14. A face from which lights shine,
Upon its cheeks,

15. And eyes compete
Towards it, towards it.

16. It is like a moist branch
In an inclined meadow.

17. That is what obsesses me,
My crazed passion for it.

18. Oh son of Al-Nasir Al-Mansur,
The son of all glory combined,

19. You are safety for the terrified,
From what is feared.

20. So many gallant, delighted ones
Say and hear:

21. "Abu Hafs, he is my sultan,
God protect me for him."

22. "He secured me, he enriched me,
He fulfilled my wishes."
