1. When you mingle with people, ceaseless
Din strikes your ears from the speech of a fool.
١. مَتّى ما تُخالِط عالَمَ الإِنسِ لا يَزَل
بِسَمعِكَ وَقرٌ مِن مَقالِ سَفيهِ
2. When a youth doesn't try to insult you intentionally
With his hands, out of rancor he insults you with his mouth.
٢. إِذا ما الفَتى لَم يَرمِ شَخصَكَ عامِداً
بِكَفَّيهِ عَن ضَغنٍ رَماكَ بِفيهِ
3. And God knows my belief, and I
Seek refuge in Him from the evil I am in.
٣. وَقَد عَلِمَ اللَهُ اِعتِقادي وَإِنَّني
أَعوذُ بِهِ مِن شَرِّ ما أَنا فيهِ
