1. The youth adorned me, and tomorrow they will crown me
With a crown for freeing me from conformity
١. قَلَّدَتني الفُتيا فَتَوِّجني غَداً
تاجاً بِإِعفائي مِنَ التَقليدِ
2. And it saddens me that your kindling should reside
In a numb body upon which sorrows alight
٢. وَمِنَ الرَزِيَّةِ أَن يَكونَ فُؤا
دُكَ الوَقّادُ في جَسَدٍ عَلَيهِ بَليدِ
3. And the events of days give birth to a throng
Then subside, belittling all that is newborn
٣. وَحَوادِثُ الأَيّامِ تولَدُ جِلَّةً
وَتَعودُ تَصغُرُ ضِدَّ كُلِّ وَليدِ
