1. I saw you swimming in a bay of the sea
Blaming the people of this world while you are blameworthy
١. رَأَيتُكَ في لُجٍّ مِنَ البَحرِ سابِحاً
تَلومُ بَني الدُنيا وَأَنتَ مَليمُ
2. Does the pilgrim say: “Will I have comfort when I die?”
Since my torment in life is painful
٢. يَقُلُ الحِجى هَل لي إِذ مُتُّ راحَةٌ
فَإِنَّ عَذابي في الحَياةِ أَليمُ
3. Our bodies are like homes for selves
Among them is an ignorant one and a forbearing one
٣. وَأَجسامُنا مِثلُ الدِيارِ لِأَنفُسٍ
جَوائِرَ مِنها جاهِلٌ وَحَليمُ
4. Either there is collapse before the journey of one departing
Or there is departure while the home remains unharmed
٤. فَإِمّا اِنهِدامٌ قَبلَ رِحلَةِ ظاعِنٍ
وَإِمّا رَحيلٌ وَالمَحَلُّ سَليمُ
