1. I fall short of the palace of daylight though
The sunset has passed me by and I have no shortage

2. And a seeker of needs attains through his neglect
What the lands do not bestow the like of

3. And when calamities arm an army for them
Quraysh are subdued in it and the Ansar

4. I - how many tribulations make pilgrimage to me
Assail my person and siege loses effect near them

5. Time has stepped forth and its life if you measure it
Is with the short-lived eagles' lifetimes at pair

6. Care is abundant but its Lord one day
Shall make it to earth and it will be interred

7. And storms from locusts, the pressers
Their handiwork is a storm, their pressing

8. How much advice people hear and how much they saw
Other than beauty so sights were averted
