1. Do not now disdain the heedless folk,
Nor waste thy time in idle chat and play;
١. لا تَقطَعِ الحينَ مُغتاباً لِغافِلَةٍ
مِنَ النُفوسِ وَلا تَجلِس إِلى السَمَرِ
2. Rather recite what Zayd and Umar writ,
And talk about what Abu Amr did say.
٢. تَوَخَّ نَقلَ أَبي زَيدٍ وَكُتبَ أَبي
عَمرٍ وَخَلِّ كَلاماً في أَبي عُمَرِ
