1. I see our mother, and praise be to Allah our Lord
Blowing at us with the winds of her events

2. So whatever she increased in the palm's grasp is its foam
And her dwellings were not inhabited for good in it

3. And its sheep and goats never knew
What its lions and leopards disputed

4. Our opinion in it was scattered, and its
Intoxicants and wines agreed

5. On suspicion, we cannot bear in our souls
In obscenity, its affairs are not hidden from us
