١. قَد رُضتُ نَفسِيَ حَتّى ذَلَّ جامِحُها
فَما أُصاحِبُ صَعبَ النَفسِ ما ريضا
2. O tongues created like Indian swords in their sharpness
Why have I seen you resemble scabbards?
٢. يا أَلسُناً كَسُيوفِ الهِندِ خِلقَتُها
مالي رَأَيتُكِ أَشبَهتِ المَقاريضا
3. When its blades are drawn, the scabbard
Utters certainty and negates doubts
٣. إِنَّ الغُمودَ إِذا سُلَّت صَوارِمُها
قُلنَ اليَقينَ وَأَلغَينَ المَعاريضا
