1. Our true God, relieve and heal our wounds
For this is a world of burdens and pains

2. Make easy for us the departure that takes us not long
To the graves, away from family and friends

3. And pardon us for our sins with forgiveness
For how patient You have been when we are not deserving

4. The Christian man has turned Muslim, tempted
Not out of love for Islam

5. But he sought honor in his livelihood
Or feared the lash of the past, the unforgiving

6. Or desired to marry, like a gazelle, a trained
Beauty for viewers, over walls and signs

7. People have sought the sustenance of God, so they invented
Ways, struggling with scrolls and pens

8. We hope for expansiveness from God after constraint
In matters, and light after darkness

9. To Him belong the kingdoms, their signs are manifest
To the thinkers, with flags and banners

10. And the fortune without effort, from His gifts
As if it were a drawing of lots with tokens

11. Woe to my generation and those to come, if resurrected
To the judgment of the ancient Lord, the All-Knowing

12. The Enumerator of sins, Doer of great deeds, Protector of the weak
Supporter of the downtrodden, the Just without unfairness
