1. I wish I could wear a striped shirt
So I may drink bitter coffee made tolerable
١. آلَيتُ أَرغَبُ في قَميصِ مُمَوِّهٍ
فَأَكونَ شارِبَ حَنظَلٍ مِن حَنضَلِ
2. Almighty God relieved the companions
From the distress of the righteous man
٢. نَجى المَعاشِرَ مِن بَراثِنَ صالِحٍ
رَبٌّ يُفَرِّجُ كُلَّ أَمرٍ مُعضِلِ
3. I had no role in this matter
But God blessed them with His kindness
٣. ما كانَ لي فيها جَناحُ بَعوضَةٍ
وَاللَهُ أَلبَسَهُم جَناحَ تَفَضُّلِ
