1. Men of honor wrap themselves in cloaks,
While others spread vice and take refuge in it.
١. تَلَفَّعَ بِالعَباءِ رِجالُ صِدقٍ
وَأَوسَعَ غَيرُهُم سَرَقاً وَلاذا
2. So be not surprised at the turns of fate -
For its vicissitudes are built upon this.
٢. فَلا تَعجَب لِأَحكامِ اللَيالي
فَإِنَّ صُروفَها بُنِيَت عَلى ذا
