1. There are two estrangements: estrangement from sanity,
Then alienation from one's self-controlling mind.
١. هِيَ غُربَتانِ فَغُربَةٌ مِن عاقِلٍ
ثُمَّ اِغتِرابٌ مِن مُحَكِّمِ عَقلِهِ
2. Inborn nature stays fixed like mountains, and whoever
Tries moving it finds the attempt too hard.
٢. وَالطَبعُ يَثبُتُ كَالهِضابِ وَمَن يَرُم
نَقلاً لَهُ يَعجَز وَيَعيَ بِنَقلِهِ
3. The truth weighs down on every straying wrongdoer,
Yet one sworn to religion does not feel its weight.
٣. وَالحَقُّ يُثقِلُ كُلَّ غاوٍ ظالِمٍ
وَأَخو الدِيانَةِ ما يُحِسُّ بِثِقلِهِ
