1. This world resembles wine in appearance
Good externally, while its inner reality is not known
١. دُنياكَ أَشبَهَت المُدامَةَ ظاهِرٌ
حَسَنٌ وَباطِنُ أَمرِها ما تَعلَمُ
2. And time is silent, except that its calamities
Speak, even if its good fortune is muted
٢. وَالدَهرُ يَصمُتُ غَيرَ أَنَّ خُطوبَهُ
تُرجِمنَ حَتّى خِلتُهُ يَتَكَلَّمُ
3. Spend, and you will be provided for, as prosperity and triumph, if
Neglected, become lean, returning when apportioned
٣. أَنفِق لِتُرزَقَ فَالثَراءُ الظِفرُ إِن
يُترَك يَشِن وَيَعودُ حينَ يُقَلَّمُ
