Between ruins and rubble

2. Seeking reward among beasts and men
For in all souls lies the desire for gain

3. Do not deny me kindness out of stinginess
If your reward differs from mine

4. And if a neighbor shuns you, then shun him back

5. Fear the evil of minor sins from your sons
And say what you wish about lions and reward

6. You will never find an act like doing good
Nor profit like that of being rewarded

7. Hope after this absence for guidance
For after darkness comes the dawn's light

Will steal up on me with their sadness

9. Woe to the soul from distant hope
To what end on earth does it run?

10. I scolded time, so do not waste
