1. Arrogance over others exceeds me
Though equal to my likes and superior to those below

2. The measure of humanity is relatives who cherish them
With things found that bring people together

3. And people are like fire in their youth
Its sparks are taken from which then spread

4. And the earth grows palms and vineyards
What lasts is neither palms nor vineyards

5. If they had sense, they'd grieve their dead
And no human would rejoice at the death of a child
