1. Had my Lord willed, He would have made me a king
Or an angel, nothing is beyond His power

2. He supported me and said: O blood I shed
He is the Almighty, the Able

3. In our origin is deviance and corruption, and this
Night is the nature of its sinister wings

4. Allah knew that I am a man
Who does not fabricate what you fabricated, O betrayer

5. I know that if I live an ember
And that after my death, I am ashes

6. How many men whose bodies are dust
With them buildings are built, and over them walls

7. The young man goes about to matters, glancing like
A panther, and in the corner of his heart, a lotus

8. I do not claim to mix pure and turbid
Rather, my claim is that all is turbid
