1. When they say that the young man is devout
Yet he desires beauty, he has no true devotion
١. إِذا قيلَ إِنَّ الفَتى ناسِكٌ
وَرامَ الجَمالَ فَلا نُسكَ لَه
2. He prays while his mind thinks of racing
His swift horses, which please and delight him
٢. يُصَلّي وَهِمَّتُهُ أَن يُقا
لَ سابِقُ خَيلٍ رَضا فِسكِلَه
3. Better than him is a man who works hard
Earning his keep by the labor of his own hands
٣. وَأَفضَلُ مِنهُ اِمرُؤٌ خامِلٌ
يَقوتُ بِمَكسَبِهِ حِسكِلَه
