1. If people's knowledge brings no benefit
Or drive away harm, loss befalls the learned

2. God has decreed what is to be
So it happened and the wisdom of the wise faded

3. Can man escape from his Lord's kingdom
And exit a land or sky that's his?

4. We will follow the path of those who endured
On the backs of slaves and servant girls

5. Long has my wonder in these days increased
Oh quenchers of thirst who met thirst!

6. My arrows roast those I oppose
No arrow misses with a throw

7. Is anything greater than twigs and leaves?
Is their water anything but blood?

8. It's clear misfortune does not sleep
It works in the stars of the enlightened

9. One with generosity, not frequent giving
Is not counted among the generous

10. We fear matters then ride their horrors
On the stubbornness of despicable tyrants

11. Awake, awake o heedless ones, your religion
Is a trick by the ancients

12. They wanted with it to gather rubble, and attained
Passed away, and the ways of the wicked died

13. They say time itself is nearing death
And nothing remains in the days but disgrace

14. They lied, not knowing its end
So listen not to lying leaders

15. How can I spend an hour in pleasure
When I know death is one of my creditors?

16. Beware of relatives and companions
And do not neglect the path of the prudent
