1. The doe cared not for her seeds
Nor did tears trickle down her cheeks

2. Abraham's wife set out
To the station of Abraham in fulfillment of her vow

3. She disobeyed him in that and did not apologize
And her sin was easier than her excuse

4. She chattered fruitlessly in ritual and did not apologize
And her silence was more eloquent than her chatter

5. Perhaps there is good in her faith
As she took the dinar by its root

6. And yet commendable piety
Remained with God, in her breast
