1. I'm distanced from people, relieved of their burdensome friendship,
No longer seeking allies or helpers among them.

2. Do not try to befriend those who, when brought close,
Will sharpen their hearing and sight to spite you.

3. When I realized how long life can be,
My thoughts made this soul feel lacking.

4. Oh longing! How many cities of kingdoms are now ruined,
How many settlements have become empty deserts!

5. God is greatest! No comparison can be made to Him.
No bounds can contain Him, whether He was or will be.

6. I own no kingdom, yet see the world besieging me,
And I have not yet gone on pilgrimage, though now under siege.
