1. The land belongs to Allah, how shameful that guests would claim it
And call it theirs, though in the house they're but newcomers.
١. الأَرضُ لِلَّهِ ما اِستَحيا الحُلولُ بِها
أَن يَدَّعوها وَهُم في الدارِ أَضيافُ
2. They fight over ruins, and between them lie
Broken arrows, spears, and swords unsheathed.
٢. تَنازَعوا في عَوارِيٍّ فَبَينَهُمُ
نَبلٌ حُطامٌ وَأَرماحٌ وَأَسيافُ
3. If they oppose you, and their dissent brings not
Evil, no matter, for people will dissent.
٣. إِن خالَفوكَ وَلَم يَجرُر خِلافُهُمُ
شَرّاً فَلا بَأسَ أَنَّ الناسَ أَخيافُ
