1. I found you gave courage its due
The morning you met death undaunted
١. وَجَدتُكَ أَعطَيتَ الشَجاعَةَ حَقَّها
غَداةَ لَقيتَ المَوتَ غَيرَ هَيوبِ
2. If a youth's sound guess is combined
With experience, he knows the unseen
٢. إِذا قُرِنَ الظَنُّ المُصيبُ مِنَ الفَتى
بِتَجرِبَةٍ جاءا بِعِلمِ غُيوبِ
3. And if you point out a fault in me
I should pass my faults to another
٣. وَإِنَّكَ إِن أَهدَيتَ لي عَيبَ واحِدٍ
جَديرٌ إِلى غَيري بِنَقلِ عُيوبي
4. Indeed, secret flaws are paths of ruin
If not corrected with good counsel
٤. وَإِنَّ جُيوبَ السَردِ مِن سُبُلِ الرَدى
إِذا لَم يَكُن مِن تَحتُ نُصحِ جُيوبِ
