1. I see them smile at me deceitfully,
While fates and fortunes cheat and fool me too,
١. أَراهُم يَضحَكونَ إِلَيَّ غِشّاً
وَتَغشاني المَشاقِصُ وَالحِظاءُ
2. Though they draw near, familiar and close by,
I'm not to them a friend, as dhal and zha do not agree.
٢. فَلَستُ لَهُم وَإِن قَرُبوا أَليفاً
كَما لَم تَأتَلِف ذالٌ وَظاءُ
