1. The people saw their world as a bride,
Yet she did not meet them except with betrayal.
١. رَأى الأَقوامُ دُنياهُم عَروساً
وَما لِقيَتهُمُ إِلّا بِغَولِ
2. When I depart from it for my own affairs,
For I have already finished my duties with it.
٢. مَتّى أَنا راحِلٌ عَنها لِشَأني
فَإِنّي قَد قَضَيتُ بِها شُغولي
