1. He who is named among the people as eternal
Is a liar, for no man lives forever
١. يَكونُ الَّذي سَمّى مِنَ القَومِ خالِداً
كَذوباً لِأَنَّ المَرءَ لَيسَ بِخالِدِ
2. A deprived man struggles for what has passed him by
While one with good fortune gains it without struggle
٢. يُجالِدُ مَحرومٌ عَلى الأَمرِ فاتَهُ
وَأَحرَزَهُ بِالحَظِّ مَن لَم يُجالِدِ
3. I see every newborn resembling its parent
Yet not every newborn of mankind has a parent
٣. أَرى كُلَّ مَولودٍ يُناسِبُ والِداً
وَما كُلَّ مَولودِ الأَنامِ بِوالِدِ
4. And fate's decree comes to pass despite your barriers
So resign yourselves to your Master with obedience
٤. وَيَجري قَضاءٌ ما لَكُم عَنهُ حاجِزٌ
فَأَلقوا إِلى مَولاكُمُ بِالمَقالِدِ
