1. Oh, if only my thoughts could bring tidings
That would gladden my heart and decree

2. Of a man whom Allah raises in glory
I rejoice for him while foes grieve

3. Al-Walid is dear to me and deserves
A friend’s loyalty, pure and sincere

4. A man who chose to befriend me
Though distant, in my eyes he's most dear

5. He supported me, drew me near, exalted me
Against foes, with help unrestrained

6. He turned people from me, not bothering
Until they shunned me with disdain

7. My soul is ransom for Abu Wahb, tell him
O mother of Amr, adorn yourself and march on
