1. Love for Ahmad has spread
Among the passions and wilderness

2. It trembles in his movements
Like a rod when it walks

3. His cheeks were made pale by the cold of early morning dew
And his eyelids by staying up late

4. When I gained union with him
And possessed what I desired

5. It was sweeter than rain in the desert or upon
The eye of one who desires a glimpse

6. And the eye of the watcher took turns
With the bubbles of cups of wine

7. The news of our love spread
And love is beautiful when it spreads

8. The slanderers toyed with our union
Out of envy, may he who gossiped be damned
