1. And never have the people worn a garment of passion
Nor have they donned any robes but those I've worn threadbare
١. وَما لَبِسَ الأَقوامُ ثَوباً مِنَ الهَوى
وَلا جَدَّدوا إِلّا الثِّيابَ الَّتي أُبلي
2. Nor have they sipped a sweet cup of love
Without my draught preceding theirs
٢. وَلا شَرِبوا كَأساً مِن الحُب حُلوة
وَلا مُرَّةً إِلّا وَشُربهم فضلي
