Between the two oceans stagnant

2. Saeed prepared it
A harbor for every newcomer

3. The water surrounds it
Like Mercury surrounds the sky

4. That's why I loved
I, the resident watcher

5. Except the maidens naked
Of every white breasted gazelle

6. Eastern in origin but
Western in beliefs

7. Faces dried out
Mixed with chameleons

8. This is from the blessings
And that is from the sea rising

9. If the banks were necklaces
Then those are one of the treasures

10. If the cities were pearls
Then they are among the precious

11. In it the Franks are a tribe
Enjoying the feasts

12. In it the mosques are many
And few in it are the prayer rugs

13. A city of beauty
Its markets like festivals

14. Too small for its residents
So its homes are like schools

15. On the roofs are cafés
Under the awnings temples

16. And in the shops dwellings
Husband, grandfather, and father

17. Its workers are active
So you see none but the diligent

18. And they wear clothes
That aid effort

19. The pants on them
With shirt fastened

20. Their heads brimmed
And they rolled up from black

21. Its nests are in rows
Laid on the pillows

22. Its fish craved
On the spit or in the stoves

23. And everything to it
From God's blessings comes

24. Begging vanished in it
So each person struggles

25. Its fishing boats in it
Like frightened geese

26. Above the lake birds
Flocks behind a leader

27. Dive into the water at night
Upon the nets of traps

28. So people eat from it
Meat pure of origins

29. And most delicious thing to eat
For the hostile foreigner

30. In Egypt, land and sea
And for the guest benefits

31. Statue of Lesseps in it
As if a demon's body

32. At the water meeting from it
A symbol for eternity

33. It signals to the West come
To Egypt the people sleep

34. Come and by ships pass
And err in the profits

35. Pass and of them reside
What's between them in the observatories

36. So they orbited the Pleiades
While we above the pillows

37. Until the youth called out
For glory to breach the schemes

38. Maybe Egypt will meet
By their hands the goals

39. Until my poetry flows
Honoring them with poems

40. God will not let down a people
Who listen to the voice of the diligent
