1. God is the First in pre-eternity
And God is the Last in post-eternity

2. Before the First, there was nothing before
After the Last, there is nothing after

3. And the mind is feeble in ignorance
Of spirit's affairs and the matter of tomorrow

4. It does not grasp the essence of the universe or
The boundary of the finite from the infinite

5. It does not know the secret of the star or
The secret of graces or embers

6. O servant leave off from knotty problems
You will die without untying knots

7. Beware to depend on what comes
From an arrogant mind

8. How the mind deceives, O brother, and weakness
Thus becoming like a shaking pillar

9. Perplexed, so believes at times
And in states like an apostate

10. Submit God’s command and you will win
Worship and strive with all effort

11. And seek provision from God for His bounty
Is beyond enumeration or limit

12. And God guarantees you as long as
You do not hope for help from creation

13. If you miss God's help, then there is no
Hope in anyone's help for you

14. So make your goal to the Master
And unload your burdens to the Eternal Refuge

15. O Lord, protect me from my soul
And my blaming, fault-finding tongue and hand

16. O Lord, protect me from my money
For the trial of wealth is sly

17. O Lord, protect me from my neighbor
Whether a neighbor or enemy of malice

18. O Lord, sponsor me and protect me
From a life of ingratitude and grief

19. O Lord, let not the love of this world
Ever occur in my heart

20. O Lord, Your mercy so benefit me
Through the Messenger of God and through aid

21. O Lord, and grant me success in answering the two angels
And light for me in my grave
