Oppressed are those hearts that are mistreated

مظلومة تلك القلوب يسيؤها

1. Oppressed are those hearts that are mistreated
In their inclination, blame, and lovers

١. مظلومة تلك القلوب يسيؤها
في ميلها اللوام والعشاق

2. Since the time of Adam, they have not seen a just one
With free judgement, though papers testify

٢. من عهد آدم ما رأت من منصف
حر القضاء وتشهد الأوراق

3. There is no taste in what they attributed to them, for verily
Imitating a people corrupts tastes

٣. لا ذوق فيها قلدوه فإن من
تقليد قوم تهجن الاذواق

4. How much they have wronged them in passion, and their knowledge
From its necklace that it cannot be endured

٤. كم عنفوها في الغرام وعلمهم
من طوقها ألا سلو يطاق

5. How much they have burdened them in love with its consequences
And Allah knows that this is hypocrisy

٥. كم حملوها في الهوى تبعاته
واللَه يعلم أن ذاك نفاق

6. By Allah, the hearts and their ardour have no sin
A beautiful creation did not appear radiant

٦. باللَه ما ذنب القلوب وجأشها
ما لاح حسن خليقة خفاق

7. Was it a sin its flutter with youth
And fluttering is what the Creator destined it

٧. هل كان ذنبا خفقها بصبابة
والخفق قدره لها الخلاق

8. If there was a way with predestined rizq (sustenance)
It would have schemed, but thus are rizq

٨. لو كان في الرزق المقدر حيلة
لتحايلت لكن كذا الأرزاق

9. As for the eyes, what is their sin
A beauty appears so the eyelids design

٩. أما العيون فهذه ما ذنبها
حسن يلوح فترسم الأحداق

10. And the mind conveys to the hearts inclination
To act within us the work of passions

١٠. والذهن ينقل للقلوب معدة
فينا لتفعل فعلها الأشواق

11. If they were just, they would blame the beauty for verily
It is the magic of hearts and its nature is thieving

١١. لو أنصفوا اتهموا الجمال فإنه
سحر القلوب وطبعه سراق
