For my home contains none but you

Save for the gray hair, decrepit and hewn

Can we now reclaim that life of June?

5. Whenever I intended harm, to you I'd weep

Your spirit will greet me at the door again

7. By God, I know not, a new wife
Or, renewed, your beauty sparked anew?

8. If we hosted all wedded pairs for a time
Yours would outshine if compared to

9. So couples may learn from our relation
Forged strong, though battered and wrung

10. God forbid today I lose sight of you
Lest your loss become my undoing

11. No man suffers like one who's lost his wife
None answers if asked what cure can salve such strife
